How long has RainSoft been in business?

RainSoft started in 1953 with two employees selling one model of conditioner from these premises in Bensenville, Illinois. Since then RainSoft has had one business and one business only—providing the best possible water treatment systems for homes like yours.

Today RainSoft, a division of Aquion Partners L.P., is an international company with nearly 300 dealers in the United States and 24 other countries. Headquartered in Elk Grove Village, Illinois (suburban Chicago). The 160,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility in Elk Grove Village, meets the toughest international manufacturing standards (ISO 9001:2000 certified) and RainSoft products have been validated through a range of independent tests and certification programmes.

Although relatively unknown in the UK, RainSoft is a leading brand in water treatment in the U.S. and is trusted by a host of well know companies such as those listed below:

You'll also find RainSoft in many of the top selling U.S. magazines like Better Homes, Good Housekeeping and Woman's Day.

RainSoft and its worldwide dealer network support many local and national organizations, such as :

Isn't city and most well water good enough without a RainSoft unit?

That depends on your standards of "good enough." True, most communities meet Primary Drinking Water Standards. But your water can still be loaded with impurities you can't taste or smell - impurities that can be potentially harmful. RainSoft can take that water and turn it into super-sudsing, great-tasting water that meets much stricter standards.

My city water system tests fine at the source. Why should I worry?

In the time that water leaves the plant and arrives at your home, it can pick up substances that become a part of the water you receive. Sediment and odours can also join the mixture. A RainSoft system provides a highly effective barrier against these pollutants.

How does a RainSoft water treatment system remove hardness?

Hardness is removed by a process called "ion exchange." Hardness-causing particles and debris are positively charged. The water runs through RainSoft's resin system, which has millions of negatively charged sites. As the water flows past these sites, calcium, rock, iron, magnesium and other heavy metals attach to the sites and are "bumped off."

How much sodium will be in my RainSoft water?

Very little, thanks to RainSoft's patented regeneration system. In most cases, you'll find less sodium in a litre of RainSoft water than in a slice of white bread. If your doctor recommends a sodium-free diet, RainSoft's reverse osmosis drinking water unit can reduce the total sodium content to near zero.

Is activated carbon a safe method of filtration for drinking water?

Yes. Activated carbon filtration is recommended by the EPA for use in municipal water treatment plants.

Will my RainSoft unit alter the pH of my water?

No. However, if your pH needs adjustment, we can recommend a suitable solution.

What if I move?

You can exclude your RainSoft unit from your mortgage or real estate contract and take it with you. Your lifetime warranty is good all over the world. RainSoft's international dealer network can help you reinstall your unit and provide you with service in most locations.

Plus in many cases, a water softener has been known to help sell a property as a result of its protection of the hot water system and bathroom sanitaryware.

How can I calculate the return on my investment?

Calculate this. You won't have to buy or lug expensive bottled water. You'll use less soaps, shampoos, detergents and household cleaners. Clothes will look brighter, whiter and wear better. And because most mineral deposits are filtered out, your expensive appliances will last longer. Best of all, your family's overall quality of life will be improved - something you can't really put a price on.
