Custom House Hotel at ExCeL is
a 300+ room hotel. It is situated opposite the ExCeL Exhibition Centre
and Custom House SilverLink and Docklands Light Railway station (DLR),
in an up and coming part of London. It is ideally located for easy
access to the financial districts of Dockland and City of London. London
City Airport is easily accessible via the DLR to Canning Town and
shuttle service to the airport.
CUSTOMER:
The
Custom House Hotel at ExCeL is
a brand new 122 bedroom hotel that opened on 21st March, 2001. It is situated opposite the ExCeL Exhibition Centre
and Custom House SilverLink and Docklands Light Railway station (DLR),
in an up and coming part of London.
PROBLEM:
In the laundry, hard water causes
greater damage. Linen greys due to the calcium salts that irreversibly
penetrate the filters. The use of deterrents, rich in phosphates,
partially subdues the damage; but it calls for hi-her operating costs
when washing. Much of the energy consumed by the washing machine is
wasted as it must make up for the low heat transmission that results
when heating, elements are coated with calcium scale.
The damage caused by hard
water does not spare the bar, coffee machine, the hairdresser's shop,
infirmary, steam generators, air conditioners, heat exchangers and other
applications. All their water-using equipment is affected.
SOLUTION:
A
RainSoft CS320EMD commercial water conditioning system was installed
in 2001 to provide luxurious, soft water throughout the hotel. From the pool,
showers, Jacuzzi, treatment rooms in the Oasis health club, to the food and
drink served to
customers at the four restaurants and bars.

In the kitchen,
life is much easier. Food cooks ideally, the dish machine

effort is required to make the room look "clean".

The pool and other water water
facilities and appliances use less energy, water, chemicals and
maintenance. Life expectancy is increased.

In the laundry,
machines now provide clean, whitened linens. A 50% saving of
detergents, prolonged linen life, the preservation of the units, and
no energy waste, have repaid within a few weeks the cost of having
water softened.
